A Realtor for just three months, Meghan Athnos has brought her knowledge in marketing and public realtions and in working with clients to her new job at Halstead Property Connecticut.
A Stamford native, Athnos worked for more than five years after college in Austin, Texas in public relations and marketing for a hospitality firm. She moved back home and did some soul-searching on what her next step professionally would be.
"I've always been interested in interior design and architecture, so when I moved back to Connecticut, the Property Brothers (a real estate home renovation show) just happened to be filming in the area," she said. Athnos landed a job stagining on the show and after the show, she worked with a woman who did interior design and residential staging.
"It was when I was helping her with her projects that is all came together for me; that real estate was something I could be good at," Athnos said. "Real estate blended my interest in marketing, home design and working with people."
A Realtor for Halstead since September, Athnos has spent much of her time working with agents and learning the ropes.
"I am kind of in the information gathering stage. I assist with open houses for other agents. I go to broker open houses to get my feet wet," she said. "It's interesting to see the inventory Stamford has. It's also great to meet other agents in Fairfield County. I also like the non-broker open houses because that is a great opportunity to meet potential buyers and to learn what they are looking for in a new home."
Athnos continued: "I want to familiarize myself with the market as much as I can."
Athnos plans on starting her real estate career- like most new agents- working with first-time home buyers. She will cover the city of Stamford.
"I love Stamford because there are so many different neighborhoods and something for everyone," she said. "You can be down by the beach or have more property in North Stamford. It's a rich cultural city and very diverse.
